I work as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computing and Information Systems at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

My research over the past fifteen years has focused on the fast changing relations between humans and digital technologies. My research is multi-disciplinary and shows a substantial contribution to scholarship in the fields of Human Computer Interaction. In particular, my interest lies in aesthetic and ethical computing. During my PhD research (2008), I undertook a number of empirical studies to investigate both the application and role of aesthetics in the design of photorealistic VR environments to enhance the user’s experience. My current work explores the role of the aesthetic in the design and development of cyber security visualisations, online learning systems and also in problem solving. I am especially interested in the ethics of the cyberspace aesthetic and how we might design for the immediate informed ‘sense’ that people need to prevent and/ or cope with harm online.

Over the last few years I have completed the following professional training:

ITIL foundation, five ITIL intermediate, and one ITIL expert from the BCS: Chartered Institute of IT Institute of Leadership & Management (2015- 2016).

Level 3 Award in Mentoring from the Institute of Leadership & Management (2015).

CISCO CCNA 1-4 courses/exams (CISCO instructor) from the University of Wales Trinity St. David (2013-2015).
